La trama gira en torno a Jeff Tuche, quien se siente emocionado por la llegada del TGV (tren de alta velocidad) a su pueblo, Bouzolles. Ante la falta de respuesta, decide postularse como candidato en las elecciones presidenciales, buscando solucionar el problema. Aprovechando circunstancias políticas inesperadas, Jeff y su familia se instalan en el Elíseo y se enfrentan a la desafiante tarea de gobernar Francia, enfrentando situaciones cómicas y sorprendentes en su intento de mejorar la situación de su pueblo y el país.
