Gabrielle Deneige (Ludivine Sagnier) vive en Lyon con su madre (Marie Bunel), una librera que ha criado sola a su hija. Gabrielle, una joven encantadora y espiritual, es la “mujer del tiempo” en una cadena de televisión de Lyon. Con ocasión del lanzamiento promocional de un nuevo programa, conoce al escritor Charles Saint-Denis (François Berléand), un hombre maduro y casado que vive en la región desde hace algunos años. Brillante y adulador, seduce a la joven nada más conocerla y se enamora de ella.
