El famoso director de cine Harry Stone (Danny Aiello) acaba de regresar a Hollywood tras pasar una temporada en Francia. La idea no suena mal, hasta que le dicen que el tema de la película se centraría en un pepinillo volador gigante, transformado en nave espacial, que transporta a los granjeros que lo cultivaron a otro planeta. Algo realmente absurdo, pero que Harry se ve obligado a aceptar para pagar su deuda. Una vez terminado el rodaje y mientras se acerca el preestreno de la película, dirigida a un público adolescente, Harry se siente cada vez más avergonzado de su trabajo y su miedo al fracaso aumenta con cada día que pasa.

Un thriller que intenta emular al cine negro, recibido con malas críticas y con una todavía desconocida Sharon Stone como la sensual editoria de McDermott.
