La oreja rota (1937) es una carrera-persecución palpitante. Tintín decide viajar a América del Sur para recuperar un fetiche robado. Allí se encuentra con la oposición de todo tipo de intereses: militares, económicos; la guerra del Gran Chaco tiene enfrentados a Bolivia y Paraguay desde hace tres años. Una estatuilla arumbaya es robada... y luego restituida a su museo. Pero un detalle revela a Tintín que la pieza devuelta no es la original sino una mera réplica. ¿Qué misterio oculta por lo tanto esta estatuilla para que se desee encubrir su robo? Tintín se embarca hacia América del Sur, donde él cree que se encuentra la clave de este enigma.
