Based on the play "Our Town" (written by Thornton Wilder), the daily life of a girl living in a rural town and the members of the theater company who are practicing the stage of Act 3 of "Our Town" are drawn alternately. Our Town is a three-act play by American playwright Thornton Wilder. It is a character story about an average town's citizens in the early twentieth century as depicted through their everyday lives. Using metatheatrical devices, Wilder sets the play in a 1930s theater. He uses the actions of the Stage Manager to create the town of Grover's Corners for the audience. Scenes from its history between the years of 1901 and 1913 play out. Originally broadcast on the Showtime Network, then as part of the PBS series "Masterpiece Theatre" (season 33, episode 1).

Dimitri Ivanovich (Fredric March) es un militar de la nobleza que vuelve a la hacienda de sus tías Marie y Sophia, donde se reencuentra con Katusha (Anna Sten), la joven plebeya con la que jugó de pequeño y que está ahora convertida en una preciosa mujer. El amor surge entre ellos, pero el servicio militar de su majestad el zar, reclama a Dimitri y este se marcha luego de haberse esforzado por educar en socio-política a su enamorada. Lo que se avendrá después, es un drama de abandono y sufrimiento, mientras los reclamos de la aristocracia envuelven en sus redes a aquel hombre que parecía tener una gran conciencia.

This first cinematic version of the classic book is a part-talkie, although the only surviving print is silent (housed in the George Eastman House, Rochester, NY). It is a straight-forward telling of the intermingled lives of a group of strangers doomed to die in a collapsing bridge accident. The Art Direction, paltry and unremarkable, surprisingly won an Oscar over the far more remarkable work nominated in THE IRON MASK. The special effect scene of the lovers plummeting with the bridge into the chasm is unforgettable and remarkably done.
