After a lifetime of caregiving, 81-year-old Birthe is separated from her daughter Karen, who has Downs Syndrome. Birthe is struggling with dementia and the municipality believes that she is no longer capable of taking care of Karen, who has the mental age of an 8-year-old. On the day of Karen’s departure, Birthe is in denial about her own abilities. Why shouldn’t she be able to take proper care of her daughter?

Evidentemente, el título en inglés de esta película es irónico. Primero porque Ole Bornedal, el hombre tras La sombra de la noche, jamás podrá ser un director convencional. Segundo, porque Just another love story no tiene nada de filme romántico al uso. La premisa es parecida a la de aquella comedia algo bobalicona, Mientras dormías. Un hombre casado y con hijos tiene una vida placentera, hasta el día que sufre un espectacular accidente de coche. Él queda ileso, pero la chica del otro vehículo cae en coma. El hombre la va a visitar y empieza a hacerse pasar por su novio frente a sus familiares...

En principio Kinamand es una comedia sobre un casamiento arreglado que termina convirtiéndose en amor verdadero. Aquí Keld accede a dar el “sí” para que Ling pueda residir legalmente en Dinamarca y permanecer cerca de su familia china ya radicada en Copenhague. Denmark in the 70's. The teenager Christoffer's parents Nisse and Maria have decided to move into a commune because they want to try the alternative lifestyle. But Christoffer doesn't like it and has trouble adapting. In school the others tease him because he lives in a commune. As a plan from the elders in the commune he starts in a Maoist group to learn about the real ways of the society. He doesn't like it but when his new girlfriend starts to see what he does as cool he goes into it. But at the same time the police start to suspect him to be the terrorist who blows up telephone booths around Copenhagen.
