Disguised as an Italian medic, Dolas finds himself on a ship evacuating wounded Axis soldiers to Italy. He leaves the ship disguised as a Nazi soldier, but is found out, declared a deserter and sent to the Eastern Front. However, on the flight to Russia, he is able to escape with a parachute, and finds himself back in Poland, now occupied by Nazis.

After escaping across Europe from Stalag camp, Dolas's ride to Cyprus is stopped when his ship in sunk by an Italian submarine. Although he and some of his fellow sailors are rescued by an Allied ship, they find themselves conscripted into the French Foreign Legion in Beirut, Dolas becoming a cook.

On the night of August 31, 1939, Dolas, from a platoon reinforcing a train station on the German border, falls asleep in a train car and unknowingly crosses into Germany. The moment he shoots a German, who he thinks is a saboteur, the German invasion of Poland begins, and Dolas is convinced it was his fault. He is taken to Stalag POW camp, the first destination in his odyssey around Europe.

One day at masquerade ball his loafing eyes witnessed the most beautiful pair of eyes disguised in black veil of Turkish dress and instantly get him ensnared by her enigma. He follows her, she knows it. She meets him and introduced her as Jowita and told him to wait for her outside the gate. The wait ended in frustration for him and he gets himself obsessed in search of her. Finally at another ball, he meets her again but she said she is Agnieszka and not Jowita, who is her best friend. They became friends and lovers but still those eyes of Jowita remain a mystery. Who is Jowita? An unattainable object of desire or unsolved enigma of subconscious?

Ala is unable to settle down and often changes husbands. She introduces each newly married spouse to her mother.

Cinco episodios sobre el amor, dirigidos por conocidos directores. François Truffaut, en "Antoine et Colette", trata de un inocente amor entre un joven y una mujer madura. Renzo Rossellini sigue las andanzas de dos mujeres que comparten un amante. Shintaro Ishihara ofrece un violento retrato de un joven perturbado que se convierte en asesino de mujeres. El episodio de Marcel Ophüls (hijo del gran Max Ophüls) se centra en un periodista que, tras un breve encuentro, deja a una mujer embarazada y tendrá que afrontar su responsabilidade como padre. El episodio dirigido por el polaco Andrzej Wajda habla de un joven soldado cuyas hazañas provocan la admiración de una mujer.

The small western was the first film by Witold Giersz painted directly with a brush on a celluloid. Spilling patches of colors are arranged in the form of cowboys and horses, creating a surprising and brilliant parody of the western. Animation is also an intriguing self-comment: the viewer watches not only the struggle between good and evil, but also the process of creating a film world. Made in 1960, the award-winning Little Western is the first fully auteur movie in the history of Polish animation - the director and screenwriter in one person also took care of the visual development of the film.
