Once amigos se reúnen para el funeral de Jude, un célebre escritor que ha muerto súbitamente en extrañas circunstancias. Allí su viuda les revela que el fallecido había estado grabando una película documental sobre sus vidas y les invita a que la acompañen para completar su obra viendo los resultados. La película resulta ser una colección de videos grabados con cámara oculta en los que Jude muestra lo peor de cada uno de ellos. Mentiras, maltratos, adulterios y traiciones se suceden en una violenta debacle que enfrenta a unos contra otros. Las máscaras acaban cayendo, pero la mayor revelación todavía está por llegar. Poco a poco, se descubre la participación del propio Jude en la farsa representada pos sus amigos y la verdad que lleva hasta su misteriosa muerte.
