Ota is a retired high-school teacher and at this point in life has various foibles that complicate life for his son and daughter-in-law. Moreover, he has a complicated and risky eye operation ahead. That is why Ota decides that this is the time to look up Jana, the retired actress who had influenced the course of his life many years ago. However, his reunion with Jana - who lives in a retirement home - works out differently to his expectations. Although disappointed at first, it is actually this zestful lady who sets Ota in the right direction again. Thanks to Jana, Ota finds the courage to set out on an exciting road-movie trip of the kind he would never have had the courage for in his youth. Their meeting and the excursion, full of unexpected turns and new impressions, give their lives a new dimension.

This murder-comedy, shot at the dawn of normalization has intentionally broke off from any connection to the reality of its time. The director Zdeněk Podskalský has focused on creating intriguing story lines, revolving around the two endeavouring female characters who are fighting for the same man. Two competing parties are not only ready to kill the other, but also (if necessary) the potential groom. This film has enabled the members of the cast, composed mainly of the brightest stars of the Czech acting scene of that time, to show an incredible acting range, from the lightest comedy to the darkest cynical morbidity.

Gulliver se encuentra en Balnibarbi, un país donde no entiende las leyes y los hábitos y por lo tanto continuamente ofende la decencia pública. Es un día en el que se ordena a las personas que mantengan la boca cerrada y obligan a su visitante a hacer lo mismo. Se enfrenta a un duro interrogatorio y le resulta difícil explicar que él no es el conejo Oscar cuyo reloj se ha encontrado en su poder.

Adolf (Miloš Kopecký), the irresistible seducer of women, is fond of Janicka (Hana Lelitová), a novice opera singer. The girl, however, prefers famous men and Adolf thus does not have a single chance with her. One day in a hospital, he meets a Greek partisan named Apostolek (Pavel Landovský) who impresses him with his spontaneity and ease in solving all problems, especially those with women. Adolf has an idea for a revenge. He makes Apostolek familiar with social manners, dresses him after the latest fashion and introduces him to Janicka as a Greek conductor. Janicka instantly falls in love with the made-up composer and Apostolek does no better.

A gifted poet checks into a Gothic hotel in hopes of meeting the woman with whom he has long been enamored. He is surrounded by a variety of offbeat characters like the hefty homosexual cook, shadowy clerks, snooty waiters, and valets prone to violence. He finally meets the woman of his dreams only to lose her and ultimately meet with tragedy.

This three-part Austrian/Czech comedy stretches the boundaries of what is considered to be humorous. Part one finds a silent film actor upset because of a rival actor's attention to the former's wife. When he kills his rival, it is only when he is strapped to the electric chair that he realizes that this is his last live scene. The second episode has the wife of an elderly British nobleman having an affair with the young gamekeeper of their estate. Part three finds a peasant woman taking a lover when her husband goes off to fight the war.

Michal's father and his friends are stigmatized by their war experience and the post-war social deformations in which they took part either directly, or watched them cowardly and in silence. They are trying to repress their feelings of guilt and justify their behavior to the young generation with memories of their heroic war feats. Michal, however, does not want to have anything to do with their problems. He subconsciously perceives the unpleasant atmosphere in the family as well as his father's hypocrisy. After one of many quarrels with his father, he runs away from home, determined to go his own way.

En una tienda de comestibles en Praga, Alena, una atractiva joven, tiene una aventura con Vorell, el gerente de la tienda, un hombre casado. Aunque es plenamente consciente de que Vorell es un sinvergüenza que ha estado robando licor de la tienda, la necesidad física de Alena por él es tan grande que no puede romper su relación. Al llevar a cabo un inventario, se descubre que 80 botellas de brandy contienen té. Cuando los dos auditores de la compañía, Kurka y Bazant, interrogan a los empleados, Alena sale corriendo de la tienda, presa del pánico. Kurka, un hombre intolerante cuyo sentido del deber ha destrozado su matrimonio, inmediatamente culpa a Alena. Cuando Alena, totalmente perturbada, recurre a Vorell para pedirle consejo, este le sugiere con total falta de sensibilidad que asuma ella la culpa, ya que la pondrían en libertad condicional, mientras que él, en caso de ser acusado, sería enviado a prisión...
