Tres episodios que narran la historia de tres muchachas, refugiadas en el hueco de la escalera de un palacio deshabitado, que esperan una oferta de trabajo.

Pappalardo es un funcionario archivero, sin estudios y padre de familia numerosa, que no logra ascender en su escalafón a pesar de que se esfuerza. La dificultad para encontrar un expediente que reclama un engolado maestro, le pone en apuros ante su superior, quien empieza a acumular elementos en su contra, que podrían costarle incluso la pérdida del trabajo.

The young Loris is undergoing a trial for killing his girlfriend Maria Luce.
