アメリカ北東部からカナダへと大自然が広がる、アパラチア山脈。そこに山小屋を構え、一人暮らしをしている元アメリカ軍人のベンジャミン。そんな彼の前にセルビア人の元兵士コヴァチが現れ、一緒に狩りを楽しむことに。しかし、山へと足を踏み入れるや、コヴァチはベンジャミンに向けて矢を放つ。混乱しながらも、軍隊と山での生活で得た経験と技術を生かして応戦するベンジャミンだが、この人間狩りにはボスニア紛争で起きたある事件が深く関わっていた。

テキサスの片田舎にある古びた一軒屋で狂った一家の引き起こした虐殺から逃れた唯一の女性の通報により、すぐさま警察が出動する。異常な一家の惨劇に興奮して集まった周辺の住民は立てこもる一家に火を投げつけ焼き殺してしまう。住民の暴動からただ一人生き残った忌まわしい一家の一員であった赤ん坊は周辺住民の夫婦に引き取られ、子供として過去の出来事から避けられ育てられていた。大人となったその娘へザーの元にとうの昔に亡くなった祖母の弁護士より、祖母の家の相続の連絡が来る。両親と折り合いの悪かったへザーは両親から離れるチャンスと相続された祖母の家を友人達と訪ねるのだが、訪れたその館には恐るべき住民が潜んでいた。
