1899年、パリ。貧しい青年作家クリスチャンはナイトクラブ“ムーラン・ルージュ”に仲間と潜り込むが、一番人気の踊り子で上流階級相手の高級売春婦のサティーンと恋に落ちる。サティーンの機転で、クリスチャンは彼女が主演する新作舞台の台本を書くことになる。一方、資金繰りに困ったムーラン・ルージュのオーナーのジドラーは、資産家ウースター公爵から資金を引き出そうと、サティーンに彼の愛人になるよう強要する。

世界で最も美しい詩を生み出しながら、25歳という若さで他界した英国詩人ジョン・キーツの半生を映画化。キーツ最期の恋をジェーン・カンピオン監督が繊細に描き上げている。主演はアビー・コーニッシュ。

原作者C・ブラウンの実話を映画化した作品。生まれながらの重度の脳性小児麻痺により、左足が少し動かせるだけで、後は植物人間同様の生活を余儀なくされている不遇の主人公が、その絶え間ざる努力の末、やがて言語能力を取り戻し、わずかに動く左足を使い絵を描けるようになるまで成長していく姿を描く。

フランスの名優、ジェラール・ドパルデューの代表作といわれる作品。1640年のブルゴーニュ。詩人にして剣客のベルジュラックは、従妹のロクサーヌが困っているところを助ける。愛する彼女に近づけると思ったが……。
