Babouchka: The North Pole - A Return to Hell (2014)

誰もが知っているアメコミのヒーローを巨費を投じて復活させた超娯楽作。素朴な田舎を背景に少年時代のスーパーマンを描いた、郷愁に満ちた序盤からデイリー・プラネットの記者として活躍する本編に入っても、暖かみを伴った面白さは一瞬たりとも揺らぐ事は無く、悪の天才レックス・ルーサーの陰謀を食い止めるクライマックスまで一気に見せきる。

クリスマスイブの夜。サンタの存在など信じないと思い始めた少年だが、ベッドの中でトナカイの鈴の音が聞こえないかと耳をすます。真夜中近く、鈴の代わりに汽車の走る音が聞こえてくる。驚いた少年が窓を見ると、家の前に大きな蒸気機関車が走り込んでくる。玄関を飛び出した少年に、車掌はそれが北極行きの急行“ポーラー・エクスプレス”だと告げ、乗らないかと誘う。戸惑う少年だが、やがて動き始めた列車につい飛び乗る。

Now that Santa and Mrs. Claus have the North Pole running smoothly, the Counsel of Legendary Figures has called an emergency meeting on Christmas Eve! The evil Jack Frost has been making trouble, looking to take over the holiday! When young Buddy falls into Santa's gift sack on Christmas Eve, he's transported back to the North Pole and raised as a toy-making elf by Santa's helpers.
