ロサンジェルスで保険の調査員をしていたレナード。ある日、何者かが家に侵入し、妻がレイプされたうえ殺害されてしまう。その光景を目撃してしまったレナードはショックで前向性健忘となってしまう。彼は記憶を消さないためポラロイドにメモを書き、体にタトゥーを刻みながら犯人の手掛かりを追っていく……。 前向性健忘（発症以前の記憶はあるものの、それ以降は数分前の出来事さえ忘れてしまう症状）という記憶障害に見舞われた男が、最愛の妻を殺した犯人を追う異色サスペンス。

動物管理局に勤めるウォルターは自分の誕生日に妻から妄想小説「ザ・ナンバー・23」という古本をプレゼントされた。ウォルターはその本を読んでいるうちに、本の中の主人公である探偵・フィンガリングと自分との多くの共通点を見つけ、その主人公が自分自身であり、自分の事が書かれている小説であると思い込む。本の中ではフィンガリングは「23」という数字に取り付かれていく。ウォルターも次第に「23」に取り付かれ、翻弄されていくのだった。世の中のあらゆる事象が「23」という数字に支配され、すべてが「23」に関連づけられている・・・と。ウォルターの身の回りの数字もすべてが「23」に見えてきた。日付、時間、車のナンバー、本のページ、エレベーターの階数、名前や言葉、番地、・・・。

New to the city, to its busy and quick rhythm, Adam tries to keep pace and enthusiasm but, among thousands and thousands of other strangers, he is subconsciously afraid to disappear: “When nobody’s watching, do I exist?”. Adam suddenly wakes up in the middle of a lavender field, cold and lost. Asking for help, Adam seems to be ignored by all the odd people he encounters until he realises that he is not being ignored but unseen.

激しい豪雨が降り続く夜、人里離れた一軒のモーテル。管理人ラリーがくつろいでいるところへ、ひとりの男が飛び込んでくる。彼、ジョージは息子ティミーを伴い、交通事故で大ケガをした妻アリスを運び込む。救助を要請しようとするが電話は不通だった。アリスをはねたのは女優キャロラインの運転手で元警官のエド。彼は病院へ向け車を走らせるが、途中で立ち往生し、やむなくモーテルへ引き返すことに…。ある時、ある一室で、既に死刑判決の下った事件について再審理が行われようとしている。ポイントとなっているのは、その事件の連続殺人犯である囚人が書いた日記だった。

The film tells the love story of two young couples. According to their social ranks, construction worker Edy is dating employee Siegi, while medical student Dieter is dating art school student Sonja. Rather unintentionally, they exchange partners. During a carnival ball, Dieter makes out with Siegi because he falls for her her fresh and happy girlish manner. Sonja coolly observes this game and sees this intermezzo as a test for their relationship. While Siegi and Dieter vacation at the sea, Sonja falls in love with Edy. Now the die seems to be cast for new constellations. But when both couples stand in front of the registrar’s office, they finally come to their senses.

ある捜査で、自らの判断ミスから部下1名が殉職、別の1名は下半身不随となり、また彼自身も重傷を負うという苦い経験を味わった、殺人課の刑事カール。その後彼は、新しく設置された部署「特捜部Q」へと転属されるが、その主たる仕事は未解決事件の残務整理だった。そんな中、彼は、5年前、女性議員のミレーデが船から失踪し、結局自殺として片づけられていた不審な事件に興味を抱き、助手のアサドとともに再調査を始める。

人名すら番号で管理されている25世紀。人々は広大な地下都市内で支給される精神安定剤を服用しながら、感情も娯楽も規制された単調な日常を送らされていた。そんなある日、女性ルームメイトのLUH-3417と恋に落ちた主人公のTHX-1138は精神安定剤の服用を止め、タブーとされる肉体関係まで結んだことから、反体制分子として当局に逮捕される。

高名な精神科医のマルコムは、かつて担当していた患者の凶弾に倒れてしまう。リハビリを果たした彼は、複雑な症状を抱えた少年･コールの治療に取り掛かる事に。コールは常人には無い特殊な“第6感”、死者を見る事ができる能力を持っていた｡コールを治療しながら、彼によって自らの心も癒されていくマルコム。そして彼には予想も付かない真実が待ち受けていた･･･｡

冬の間は豪雪で閉鎖されるホテルの管理人職を得た小説家志望のジャック・トランスは、妻のウェンディーと心霊能力のある息子ダニーとともにホテルへやってくる。そのホテルでは、かつて精神に異常をきたした管理人が家族を惨殺するという事件が起きており、当初は何も気にしていなかったジャックも、次第に邪悪な意思に飲みこまれていく。
