ニューヨークの開業医ビルとアリスの倦怠期を迎えている夫妻は、ビルの患者で友人のジーグラー夫妻が開いたクリスマス・パーティーに招かれる。このパーティでビルはピアニストであり旧友のニックと再会し、アリスはビルと別れて個別にパーティーを楽しむことにしたが、ビルは女性たちに誘惑され、一方でアリスはハンガリー人の紳士に誘惑される。

腕はいいが問題ばかり起こし、上司のトッド警部からも見放されたような状態のデトロイト市警察本部の若手刑事・アクセル（エディ・マーフィー）は、ビバリーヒルズからやってきた幼馴染のマイキーと再会するが、その夜にマイキーが殺害される。マイキーの仇討ちを決意したアクセルは、犯人を追って単独でビバリーヒルズに乗り込み、規則に忠実で洗練された地元（ビバリーヒルズ警察）の刑事達と衝突しつつも巨悪に迫る。
