シノプシス
A toothpaste magnate's mischievous daughter, tired of her father's traditional ways of conducting business, joins forces with her father's rival and a crazy inventor. Together they create "Cocktail Toothpaste". The new concoction tastes like whiskey in the morning, a martini at suppertime, and champagne at night.
エドワードは、発明家の博士によって生み出された人造人間。だが、完成直前に博士が急死してしまった為、彼は両手がハサミのままこの世に残されてしまう。その後、ゴースト屋敷のような丘の上の家で、顔が傷だらけで孤独な日々を送っていた彼の元にある日、化粧品のセールス・ウーマンのペグが訪ねて来た。心優しい彼女は、そんな彼の姿に同情し、自分の家に連れて帰る。そうして家の中へ通された彼は、写真に写っているペグの娘キムに心奪われ、彼女に恋してしまう。

カメラマンのジェフは足を骨折し、ニューヨークはグリニッチ・ヴィレッジのアパートで療養中。身動きの取れない彼にとって退屈しのぎの楽しみは、窓から見える中庭と向いのアパートの住人たちを眺める事だけ。だが、その中で、セールスマンの夫と激しい口論をしていた病床の妻の姿が見えなくなった事に気づいた。セールスマンの様子を窺う内に、ジェフはその男が女房を殺したのではないかと推測、恋人のリザと看護人ステラの協力を得て調査を始めるのだが……。
科学の飛躍的な発展の結果、労働者たちは地下に押しやられ、巨大な工場で家畜同然に管理されている一方、資本家たちは地上で享楽的生活を送っている。社長の息子は地下に降りて、彼らの悲惨な生活を知る。労働者の娘マリアは、労使間に人間的な絆が皆無であることを仲間に訴え、これがストライキの気運を生む。そこで社長はマリアを監禁、彼女そっくりの人造人間を作って事態収拾にあたるが、人造人間は狂い始める。
