シノプシス
The boys are working at the local boxing arena where their friend, Jimmy Higgins, is boxing. During a crooked match Jimmy is killed. The boys seek out his older brother, Johnny, a former boxer who gave up the sport rather than go crooked, and help train him to get back in the ring. They try to get him a shot at the title, and when they do the same crooked gangsters that were behind Jimmy's death try to get Johnny to take a dive.
かつてのチャンピオン・ボクサー、ロッキー。今は引退し、地元フィラデルフィアでレストランを営む。妻エイドリアンは世を去り、息子のロバートは父に反発してビジネスマンの道に。満ち足りているがむなしい毎日の中、ロッキーは以前のようにリングに立ちたいと望みだす。同じころ、現役ヘビー級チャンピオンのディクソンは対戦相手に恵まれず、伝説的なロッキーとのエキシビションマッチを企画。ロッキーはこの挑戦を受けて立つ。
フィラデルフィアの下町。無名ボクサーのロッキーは本業だけでは食えず、借金の取りたてを請け負って日銭を稼いでいた。そんなある日、世界チャンピオンのアポロが気まぐれで無名選手にチャンスを与えようと言い出し、無作為に選んだロッキーを挑戦者に指名する。降って湧いたチャンスを得て、ロッキーは想いを寄せる女性エイドリアンに、15ラウンド最後まで戦いぬくことで自分の愛を証明すると約束する。
アポロとの死闘で判定負けしたロッキーは、危険なボクシングから足を洗い、恋人エイドリアンと結婚。正業に就いて家庭を築こうとするが、ボクシング一筋に生きてきた彼はどんな仕事をしてもうまくいかない。一方、無名のロッキーをKOできなかったアポロはチャンピオンとしてのプライドを打ち砕かれ、評価も人気も失っていた。復讐に燃えるアポロはマスコミを使ってロッキーを挑発、再戦のリングに引きずり上げようと画策する。
ヘビー級王座についたロッキーは連戦連勝を重ね、愛する家族と幸福の絶頂へ。引退を考えだした矢先、新たな挑戦者クラバーが現われる。野獣のような闘志を持つクラバーを恐れる老トレーナーのミッキーは、ロッキーに対戦をやめるように進言するが、挑発に乗った彼は聞く耳を持たない。心労が重なるミッキーは試合前日、ついに心臓発作を起こして倒れてしまう。不安を抱えてリングに上がったロッキーは、無残に敗北してしまう。
徹底した科学トレーニングで作り上げられたソ連最強のボクサー、ドラゴが訪米。そのトレーナーである妻ルドミラは挑発的な発言を繰り返し、刺激を受けた元チャンピオンのアポロはロッキーをセコンドにエキシビションマッチに臨む。だが、恐るべき破壊力を持ったドラゴのパンチを受け、アポロはリング上で絶命してしまう。親友の死を目の当たりにしたロッキーは仇討ちを誓い、タイトルを返上して敵地モスクワへと乗り込む。
激戦を続けてきた影響で脳に損傷が見つかり、ボクシングからの引退を余儀なくされたロッキー。その上税理士の財産使い込みが発覚、破産したロッキーはかつて暮らした下町で無一文から再出発することになる。そんなある日、彼の前に若いボクサー、トミーが現われる。粗削りながらその才能に気付いたロッキーはトレーナーを引き受け、トミーは気鋭のボクサーに成長。だがマスコミはトミーを「ロッキーの操り人形」と書き立てる。

Iceman Chambers is the heavyweight champion, who lost his title due to a rape conviction to ten years in Sweetwater. WHen these two giants collide in the same prison, they fight against each other disputing who is the real champion.
When the champ's promoter, Rev. Sultan, decides something new is needed to boost the marketability of the boxing matches, he searches and finds the only man to ever beat the champ. The problem is that he isn't a boxer anymore and he's white. However, once Rev. Sultan convinces him to fight, he goes into heavy training while the confident champ takes it easy and falls out of shape.

Muggs is tricked into entering a Civilian Conservation Corps camp by Danny in order to get in shape. Muggs resists and battles with the camp captain and with other campers. He also becomes involved in trying to help one of his friends get out of trouble.
