天界と魔界の争いにより天界が破壊され、天界を補修したときに落ちたかけらに命が宿り、下界の人間界で猿として誕生。猿は天界の須菩提祖師に孫悟空と名付けられ、術などを覚えていく。一方、天界の玉帝に敗れた魔界の牛魔王は、悟空のパワーを悪用し天界をつぶそうとたくらむ。
