It always gives me great pleasure to host our summer evening concerts on the beautiful Vrijthof square in my home town of Maastricht. But this time we had something extra to celebrate: a silver jubilee! The Johann Strauss Orchestra and I have been appearing on stage together for 25 years this year. Every reason to revisit some of the highlights of our career: Frédéric Jenniges with his zither, Carla Maffioletti with her virtuoso aria Adèle’s Laughing Song (Mein Herr Marquis), the Mastreechter Staar male voice choir, the Platinum Tenors, the seductive Carmen Monarcha with Habanera, Kimmy Skota with the emotional Casta Diva, a reunion with our Russian friends from St Petersburg, and much more... The Vrijthof concerts have been going for ten years and this anniversary was all the excuse André Rieu needed to make things extra festive and put on a fantastic, unforgettable anniversary concert with his new DVD, ‘Love In Venice’ – a selection of favourites from the concert. For this tenth concert series he had the Vrijthof square specially decorated in Venetian style, complete with a Doge’s Palace, Rialto Bridge, a fabulous Italian fountain and a colourful Venetian masquerade and it was a party from start to end. Love In Venice is an evening full of wonderful Italian music, world hits like Funiculi funicula, Tiritomba and Vieni sul mar and fabulous operatic arias. For the occasion of this anniversary, the Italian singer Rocco Granata came to sing his world hit Marina. Thanks to the perfect sound and image recordings on this DVD you can enjoy it at home just as though you were there yourself.

The Professor will not allow his daughter to marry a non-musician, but Billy, her would-be suitor, cannot play a single note. Capping a year of touring which took André and his orchestra around the world The Flying Dutchman was filmed in the Kerkrade, Holland soccer stadium and celebrates his return home. This blockbuster program presents a dynamic concert featuring guest artists, equestrian riders, fireworks and a delightful collection of musical favorites performed by the incomparable Johann Strauss Orchestra.

Violinist Mischa Elman performs a set of two of the most recognizable popular classic violin pieces: "Humoresque" composed by Antonín Dvorák, and "Gavotte" by François-Joseph Gossec. He is accompanied off screen by pianist Josef Bonime, although Bonime's instrument can be seen in the background behind Elman on screen. In one continuous single shot, the stationary camera focuses in squarely on Elman as he performs the two pieces.

Live performance by Dutch violinist and composer André Rieu recorded at his annual concert in his home town of Maastricht. Playing to a crowd of over 80,000 people, Rieu is joined on stage by the Johann Strauss Orchestra as well as some special guests including Mirusia Louwerse, The Platin Tenors and Lou Bega.

Four talented alien musicians are kidnapped by a record producer who disguises them as humans. Shep, a space pilot in love with bass player Stella, follows them to Earth. Reprogrammed to forget their real identities and renamed The Crescendolls, the group quickly becomes a huge success playing soulless corporate pop.
