イースター・パレード (1948)

“ザ・フー”の傑作ロック・オペラの映画化で、舞台での上演を想定して製作したレコードが大元。先の大戦で空軍パイロットの夫に先立たれ、ノーラは息子トミーと訪ねた夏のキャンプのガイド、フランクと再婚。が、ある夜、顔にひどい火傷を負い突如帰還した前夫に錯乱したフランクは彼を殴り倒し、それをトミーに見られてしまう……。

サーカス団のメス象、ジャンボが授かった子象はダンボと名付けられるが、他の象よりも大きい耳を持っていたため、象仲間たちから仲間外れにされてしまう。そんなダンボの友達になったネズミのティモシーは彼をなぐさめようと、ダンボに空を飛んでみるよう勧める。空を飛べるようになったダンボは、たちまちサーカスの人気者になる。

本編はお城に嫁いだシンデレラのその後が舞台となっており、シンデレラに魔法をかけた妖精のおばあさんがシンデレラの物語を聞かせていく。お城に嫁いだシンデレラが初めて取り仕切ることになった晩餐会の話、ねずみのジャックが人間に変身してさまざまな人間たちとの交流を描いた話、シンデレラのお姉さん・意地悪なアナスタシアが町のパン屋の主人に恋をしてしまう話の3本立てで展開される。そして話を聞かされたジャックやガスは、それらの話を本にしてシンデレラにプレゼントすることを思いつくのだった。
