主人公の玄野計は、地下鉄ホームで小学生時代の親友、加藤勝を見かける。加藤は線路上に落ちた酔っ払いを助けようとするが玄野と共に進入してきた電車に轢かれて死んだはずであったが、次の瞬間、彼らはマンションの一室にいた。そこには、同様に死んだはずの人々が集められていた。部屋の中央にある謎の大きな黒い球「ガンツ」。彼らは「ガンツ」に理由もわからないまま謎の星人を倒すように指示され、別の場所へと転送される。玄野は戦いを生き延びながら成長し「ガンツ」の世界に触れていく。

A seductive forest spirit who appears from the front to be a beautiful young woman, but who also has a cow's tale and whose back appears to be like a hollowed out tree. The huldra has been known to offer rewards to those who satisfy them sexually, while death to those who fail to do so and are also prone to stealing human babies.
