主人公ジョニー・リコは、高校卒業後地球連邦軍に入隊して宇宙戦艦のパイロットを志望するカルメン・イバネスに憧れ、両親の反対を押し切って軍に入隊。優秀なカルメンは艦隊アカデミーへ、超能力者の友人・カールは情報部へ配属されるが、リコは機動歩兵隊へ配属され、訓練キャンプでしごかれる日々を送る。訓練中、自らの判断ミスにより同期一人を殉職させる事故を起こしたことで、一旦は軍隊をあきらめようとしたリコだったが、奇襲攻撃で故郷ブエノスアイレスが壊滅したため機動歩兵に復帰し、宇宙での戦いに加わる。

The story, set in 1885, follows a British officer (Heath Ledger) who resigns his post when he learns of his regiment's plan to ship out to the Sudan for the conflict with the Mahdi. His friends and fiancée send him four white feathers which symbolize cowardice. To redeem his honor he disguises himself as an Arab and secretly saves the lives of those who branded him a coward.

The revelation of the couple's marriage relieves everyone and the fact that Betty is pregnant brings the desired peace and serenity.

Thomas is a good but low intelligence man. He is in love with Urania, a widow, whose stingy husband Sotiris is over a year dead, as the ship he was sailing in, sunk. Thomas indeed tries unsuccessfully. Everything is revealed when Sotiris discovers that the insurance money have been stolen and appears screaming during his memorial service. A trial ensues, where Thomas admits that he is not only an imbecile but 'an imbecile and a half'.

On the square of a village on a beautiful greek island there are two competing tavernas. One belongs to Aspasia and the other to Anargyros, who is a former Sergeant Major of the Greek Army. This highly acclaimed drama from Greek writer/director Sotiris Goritsas, inspired by the Sotiris Dimitriou short story, represented Greece as an official selection for the 1994 Cannes Film Festival Directors' Fortnight. It concerns two young Greek men seeking refuge in Albania. Thomas (Vassilis Eleftheriadis) and Achilleas (Ierassimos Skiadaeressis) make an illegal late-night run at the Greek border, joined by young Nikos (Antonis Manolas), a child whose mother had been killed by Albanian guards. Returning to Athens, they find that the land they had missed and dreamed of so often has changed, refusing to accept the returning refugees or even see them as Greek -- the locals refer to the trio as "Albanians" throughout the film. Demoralized and disillusioned, Thomas is accidentally killed while working at a building site to make ends meet, and Achilleas and Nikos decide to return to their Albanian village rather than stay in an Athens, which clearly has no place for them anymore.
