The Truth deals with an investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) involving the murder of the Chief Minister of Kerala in bomb blast.

4 years after the events of Aavanazhi, Balaram is now married to Seetha. They have a daughter and live a normal life. Seetha is then killed by Dulabribai's men, and Balram sends his daughter to be taken care of by nuns along with his partner Madhavan. Balram faces his enemies, including Indira Shankar and Sayed Mohammad Shah, and Preethi avenges her father's death.

Vaasthavam (English: The Reality) is a 2006 Malayalam film written by Babu Janardhanan and directed by M. Padmakumar. The film revolves around a youth, Balachandran Adiga (Prithviraj), who rises to political power. The story is loosely based on Thakazhi's novel 'Enippadikal'.

Lachi is a hard-working 19-year-old who supports her family after her father's mysterious death. While she was traveling on a train, Mulla and his gang enter. They argue over silly issues, and he discovers a baby in a bag on the train. They try to find the baby's parents but fail. Mulla decides to adopt the child, and slowly Mulla and Lachi become lovers.

The film is a sequel to the 1988 film August 1, which was directed by Sibi Malayil, and written by S. N. Swamy. Following from August 1, Mammootty plays the character of the Crime Branch officer Perumal who investigates into an attempt of assassination on the chief minister of Kerala on the 15th of August, the Independence Day of India.
