張り込み明けの刑事ジャック（ブルース・ウィリス）は、仮釈放中に悪事を犯した囚人エディ（モス・デフ）をNY市警本部のあるパーク・ロウから16ブロック（約1.6km）離れたセンター・ストリートの裁判所まで護送し、証言させることに。しかし、その途中、何者かに襲撃された2人は近くのバーに身を潜め、応援を待つことになる。やがて、ジャックの元相棒フランク（デヴィッド・モース）が現れるが……。
