The Short Films of David Lynch (2002) is a DVD collection of the early student and commissioned film work of American filmmaker David Lynch. As such, the collection does not include Lynch's later short work, which are listed in the filmography. The films are listed in chronological order, with brief descriptions of each film. 主にメーターとマックィーンの会話から成り立ち、メーターのホラ話がその内容となっているが、ラストでは架空であるはずの登場人物や出来事が発生し、本当なのか嘘なのかというオチがほとんどである。どのホラ話にも必ずマックィーンが出演しているほか、マックィーンのファンである双子のミアとティアもメーターのファンなどとして登場している。また、メーターのヘッドライトやボンネットが破損した理由もホラに吹き込まれている。
