15年前に実の姉を殺害した少年マイケルが、収容されていた精神病院から脱走して故郷に向かった。万聖節の夜、子守をするはめになった女学生ローリイ（カーティス）は白塗りの不気味な仮面をつけた男の姿を目にする。そのころマイケルの担当医ルーミス（プレザンス）もその地ハドンフィールドに到着していた……。
