天才的な才能を持つリード、彼の相棒ベン、科学者の養女スーとその弟ジョニーは、人類の未来を左右する研究に参加。研究の末に完成した物質転送装置で異次元空間プラネット・ゼロへのテレポートに挑むが、想定外の事故に巻き込まれ超人的パワーを宿してしまう。一方、事故により行方不明になっていたビクターは、彼らのパワーを上回る能力を得ていた。
