クリスマス休暇を常夏のフロリダで過ごそうと空港にやってきたマカリスター一家。ところが、なぜかケビンだけが間違えてニューヨーク行きの飛行機に乗ってしまい、またまた彼はひとりぼっちに。偶然にもクレジット・カードや現金の入った両親のカバンを持っていたことから、ちゃっかり高級ホテルで悠々自適の暮らしを楽しむケビンだが、そこでなんと、かつて撃退した泥棒コンビに再会してしまった。

国際的な犯罪グループが盗んだマイクロチップが移送中に空港で間違えられ、シカゴの高級住宅街に住む老婦人の手に渡る。それを知った彼らはチップを取り返すべく、さっそく住宅街の捜索を開始する。日中はほぼ無人と化す住宅街だったが、そんな彼らの行動を、病気で学校を休んでいたアレックス少年が発見。警察に通報したがまったく相手にされず、アレックスは自分独りで悪者たちに立ち向かう決心をする。

もうすぐクリスマスなのに盛り上がらないのは今年はパパが家を出てしまったから。ガッカリしていたケビンは、パパの新恋人ナタリーの家でクリスマスを過ごすことにする。彼女は大資産家、広大でゴージャスなハイテク仕様の御殿に住んでいた。しかも、クリスマスにはロイヤルファミリーの王子様がやって来るのだという。しかし、王子の誘拐を企む悪党が敷地内に侵入、夢のハイテク御殿は戦場になった。
