Eventually, dog and owner bond as Little Q wins Bo-ting over with its unwavering loyalty. 生ませの親・レンのたっての願いで、盲導犬になる為に訓練士・多和田に預けられることになった一匹のラブラドール・レトリーヴァーの子犬。おなかに鳥が羽を広げたようなブチがあることから、パピーウォーカー・仁井夫妻によって“クイール”と名付けられたその子犬は、1年間、夫妻のもとで愛情一杯に育てられた後、いよいよ盲導犬訓練センターで本格的な訓練を受けることになる。のんびり屋でマイペースなクイールに、ヴェテランの多和田でさえ手を焼くこともあったが、やがてクイールは立派な盲導犬へと成長し、視覚障害者の渡辺と巡り会う。初めこそ息の合わなかった渡辺とクイール。だが、ハーネスを介して伝わってくるクイールの思いやりに、渡辺は次第に心を開くようになり、互いにかけがえのない存在になっていく。しかし、クイールとの生活が2年を過ぎた頃、渡辺は重度の糖尿病に冒され、3年後、この世を去ってしまう。そしてそれから8年後、仁井夫妻のもとで余生を送っていたクイールもまた、12年と25日の生涯を静かに閉じるのだった。
