少年アレックスが持つスマホの中には絵文字の町、テキストポリスがあり、絵文字たちはそれぞれの役割を果たすのがルール。若い絵文字ジーンは“ふーん”という感情を表現する役割に就いたばかりだが、アレックスが憧れの同級生アディに送ったメッセージで緊張し、“ふーん”を表現するのに失敗。笑顔担当のスマイラーは、アレックスが故障したと誤解してスマホを初期化することを警戒。削除されそうになったジーンは逃げ出す。
