A team of military experts and scientists go after a terrorist group that has seized a deadly virus and is threatening to release it.
A group of friends head to a deserted Caribbean island for a surprise overnight bachelor party only to discover that the island isn't deserted. It's actually the home to a secret medical facility. Not only that, there's something wrong with the water surrounding the island...
A case of the flu quickly morphs into a pandemic. As the death toll mounts and the living panic, the government plans extreme measures to contain it.
コミック作家のクレイは、ボストンの空港から別居中の妻子へ連絡を取るが、充電切れで携帯電話が通話不能となってしまう。やむなく彼が公衆電話に切り替えようとしていると、彼の周囲で携帯電話を使用していた人々が突如狂暴になり、無差別な殺し合いを始める思わぬ事態に。その場をなんとか逃れたクレイは、やがて地下鉄の車掌のトムら、何人かと仲間になり、互いに助け合いながら、妻子の住むニューハンプシャーへと向かう。

2005年6月、タリバンの幹部アフマド・シャーが潜伏しているという情報に基づき、米海軍の特殊部隊ネイビー・シールズから選抜されたラトレルら4人のチームはアフガニスタンの山岳地帯に乗り込むが、現地の電波状態が悪いために孤立する。さらに、遭遇した現地の一般人たちを殺すかどうかで4人の意見は分かれる。直後、4人は200人以上からなるタリバンの攻撃を受け、支援チームを乗せたヘリが現地に送り込まれるが…。
