シノプシス
Calumny is one of the most despicable crimes against our neighbor, and while the wife in this story acted conventionally, she nevertheless maligned the other woman simply because of her profession, an actress. While out on a shopping tour, the wife and her husband enter a store, leaving their little child in the auto in the care of the chauffeur. This gentleman pays but scant attention to the child, so the little one wanders off and strolls into the stage door of a theater during the matinee. The parents upon their return to the auto discover the child's absence and trace him to the theater stage, where they find him in the arms of one of the show girls. The mother matches the child from the girl's arms, scornfully exclaiming, "How dare you contaminate my child with your touch?" For this remark, together with the derisive laughter it occasions, the girl vows to be avenged.

雪深い山に金鉱を捜し求めてきた一人の金鉱探し・チャーリー。猛吹雪に難渋した上、転がり込んだ小屋にはお尋ね者のブラック・ラーセンがいた。やがて、同じく猛吹雪で転がり込んできた金鉱探しのビッグ・ジム・マッケイと避難生活を送ることとなる。寒さと飢えがピークに達し、ビッグ・ジムはチャーリーがニワトリに見える始末。やがて靴を食べる生活まで始めた。 ビッグ・ジムと別れ、麓に出来た新興の街にやってきたチャーリーは酒場で出会ったジョージアに一目ぼれ。最初はチャーリーの単なる片思いであったが、ジョージアも粗暴なジャックに愛想を尽かし、チャーリーに少しずつ思いを寄せるようになる。 酒場で偶然再会したビッグ・ジムと艱難辛苦の上、ついに金鉱を探し当て百万長者になったチャーリー。帰りの船上でジョージアと再会。めでたく結ばれる。
世の中は極端に不景気。小男で風彩もあがらず、服装もみすぼらしく、職もなく住むところもないチャーリーは、職にありつけそうもなく、毎日あちこちさすらい歩いてフーテン暮らしをしていた。そんな彼が一人の娘に恋をした。街角で花を売っている、盲目の貧しい娘だ。彼は彼女の目を治す為に、金を稼ごうと一大決心をするが……。
ある日、いつもの様に街を散歩していたチャーリーの耳に赤ん坊の泣き声が聞こえてきた。辺りを見回すとまだ生まれたばかりの赤ん坊が街頭に捨てられている。どうしたものかと抱き上げた彼の目の前に、パトロール中の警官が通りかかった。警官は彼が赤ん坊を捨てにきたと勘違いし、目を光らせている。仕方なく彼は、その赤ん坊を自分のボロ・アパートに連れて帰った。それから5年後－－その子はチャーリーの仕事を手伝う程成長していた。
アッテンボロー監督による、喜劇王チャーリー・チャップリンの生涯を描いた作品。映画は、チャップリンが幼少の頃から、名門カルノー一座の看板俳優時代、そしてハリウッドでの映画製作、富と名声を得、やがて映画「チャップリンの独裁者」の製作に纏わる国外追放、終戦後のアメリカへの帰国から白髪のはえるまで、彼の一生を克明に追って行きながら、その中での孤独、悲しみ、苦しみ、さらには母、兄弟、恋人などの彼に関わる人物をも含み、チャップリンの人生の軌跡を描いてゆく。
帝政に対する不満が頂点に達し、反乱を起こす水兵たち。やがてそれは軍隊による民衆の大虐殺へと発展していく。乳母車が階段を落ちる“オデッサの大虐殺”シーンがあまりにも有名な巨人セルゲイ・M.エイゼンシュテイン監督の大傑作。

「ベトナムから遠く離れて」など、主に記録映画を活動の場としヌーヴェル・ヴァーグの中でも特異な位置を占める作家C・マルケルが全編スチール・カットで撮った中編SF映画の佳作。人類が絶滅した未来からその原因となった出来事を探るため過去にタイムトラベルした男は一人の女性と知り合う。何故か見覚えのあるその女性と行動を共にするうち、彼は幼いころ飛行場で彼女を見たことを思い出す。二人はやがて全ての出来事の根源となる飛行場へとたどり着くのだが……。
科学の飛躍的な発展の結果、労働者たちは地下に押しやられ、巨大な工場で家畜同然に管理されている一方、資本家たちは地上で享楽的生活を送っている。社長の息子は地下に降りて、彼らの悲惨な生活を知る。労働者の娘マリアは、労使間に人間的な絆が皆無であることを仲間に訴え、これがストライキの気運を生む。そこで社長はマリアを監禁、彼女そっくりの人造人間を作って事態収拾にあたるが、人造人間は狂い始める。
ジョゼフ・デルテーイの小説版による“ジャンヌ・ダルク裁判”の物語で、間違いなくサイレント映画の一つの到達点だろう。“悪魔の子”とされ拷問を受けるジャンヌが苦しみに一度は屈服し、囚人として髪を刈られるシーンの厳しさ（実際に髪を切られ涙するクローズ・アップ）、そして自分を持ち直し、あえて火刑台に向かい火にかけられ、苦悶に顔を歪める瞬間、見る者をも貫く痛み（これも鮮烈なクローズ・アップで表現される）。

At least that is the hope of Remy, the star of Ratatouille, and his reluctant brother Emile as they guide us through world history from a rat's perspective. Why can't we all just get along?
映像作家・加藤久仁生が制作した短編アニメーションで、後にフランスのアヌシー国際アニメーション映画祭で最高賞を受賞、さらにはアカデミー賞の短編アニメ映画賞をも受賞し、一躍世間の話題となった。海面が上昇したことで水没しつつある街に一人残り、まるで塔のようにそびえ立った家で暮らしている老人がいた。彼は家が沈みかけるたびに、積み木のように上へ上へと家を建て増しすることで難をしのぎつつも穏やかに暮らしていた。そんなある日、彼はお気に入りのパイプを海中へと落としてしまう。それを拾うために彼はダイバー姿になって海中へと潜っていくが、やがて彼はかつて共に暮らしていた家族との思い出を回想していく。セリフが無く物語は淡々と進むが、海外で受賞後に日本で上映された際には女優の長澤まさみがナレーションを担当した。
