夏を過ごそうと田舎町で下宿するハンバートに、未亡人シャーロットは積極的だが、当のハンバートは彼女の娘・ロリータに心奪われていた。やがてハンバートとシャーロットは結婚するが、夫が娘を愛してる事を知ったシャーロットは逆上のあまり事故死してしまう。心置きなく二人だけの暮らしと相成るはずだったが、近所の視線も気になり、ハンバートはロリータを連れて車で旅に出るのだが……。

真面目だけが取り柄の気弱な銀行員スタンリー。楽しみといえば往年のアニメを見ることくらいで、恋人もできずに冴えない日々を送っていた。そんなある夜、スタンリーは川で奇妙な仮面を見つける。自宅に持ち帰り顔に当ててみると、本人とは正反対のワイルドな男“マスク”に変身してしまう。風のように町へ飛び出した緑色の怪人“マスク”は、普段スタンリーを冷笑してきた人々に次々と仕返しをしていく。
