ニューヨークのコロンビア大学で超常現象や幽霊・霊体の研究を行っていたピーター・ヴェンクマン博士ら冴えない研究者3人。ある日、一方的に研究費を打ち切られたことをきっかけに借金に借金を重ね、科学的に超常現象全般を扱い幽霊退治を行う会社「ゴーストバスターズ」を開業。当初は資金もなく依頼もゼロに近かったが、とあるホテルでの幽霊退治をきっかけにビジネスは大当たり、メディアや行政からも注目視される。

紀元前12世紀。繁栄を極めた都市国家トロイとギリシャの強国スパルタとの戦いが和平を迎えようとしていた。だがトロイの王子パリスがスパルタ王メネラウスの妃ヘレンと恋に落ちたことから、両国間の関係は再び悪化。王妃を奪われ激怒するメネラウスのもと、ギリシャは最強の戦士アキレス率いる大船団をトロイに差し向ける。一方トロイは、パリスの兄ヘクトルを指揮官にギリシャ軍を迎え撃つ。
