After the death of his wife and his son, Michael, an intrepid Russian imperial army officer, lost the joy of living. His family has been the victim of an attack by the commander Ogareff Tartar troops, operating in the eastern DRC. When Tsar commissioned him to cross the dangerous mission across Siberia to restore communications troops sabotaged by Ogareff, the young officer does not hesitate to accept.
1860年代、世界各地の海で、謎の怪物による船舶の沈没事故が相次いで発生。海洋学者のアロナックス教授らはアメリカ政府から派遣され、船で調査に乗り出す。ある夜、彼らの乗った船は謎の物体と衝突。それは、権力と戦争を憎む天才科学者ネモ船長率いる万能潜水艦ノーチラス号だった。教授たちは船長に招かれ、海底へと旅に出る。
時は1872年、まだ飛行機も出現していない時代。イギリスはロンドンの社交クラブで、英国紳士フォッグ氏はひょんなことから“80日間あれば世界一周できる”という賭けにのり、なんと2万ポンドという大金を賭け、自ら大冒険に出ることになる。さっそくフォッグ氏はパスパルトゥーを従者に従えロンドンを出発する。マルセイユへ向かう途中、汽車が止まってしまい気球を調達して先を急ぐ。ところが気球は風に流されてスペインへ。そして、パスパルトゥーはそこで、闘牛をするハメになってしまう。
イギリスに住む発明家のフィリアス・フォッグは、過激な実験に執事を無理矢理協力させることもしばしば。そんな彼に愛想を尽かし、執事はとうとう出て行ってしまってフォッグが困り果てていたところ、屋敷の庭に一人の男が落ちてきた。彼の名はラウ・シン。中国にある故郷の村から秘宝を盗み出した盗賊を追ってイギリスにやってきた彼は、盗賊から秘宝を奪い返し、町中を逃げ回っていたのだった。ラウはとっさに「パスパルトゥー」という偽名を名乗り、フォッグの家の執事兼実験台として雇われることになった。
時は南北戦争のさなか、気球にのって戦場から脱出した囚人たちは風に流され見知らぬ島にたどり着く。だがそこは通常の何十倍もある大きさの生物が跋扈していた。後から漂着した母娘を加えてサバイバル生活が始まるが、島にはもう一人奇妙な人物が住んでいることが判明する。それはあの伝説のネモ船長だった……。
