ちょっと大人びたベーダは13歳。新しいママに赤ちゃんが生まれ、親友にBFができ、自分だけなんだか取り残された感じ。そんな春休み、“会ったことのない興味ある人物”についてのレポートの課題が出る。彼女にとってそれは、自分を生んですぐに死んだ幻のママ。女優だったママは夏季公演で訪れた、このペンシルヴァニアで葬儀屋のパパと出会い、電撃結婚したのだ。彼女の面影を求めてその出生地ロスへ、パパの反対を押し切って出かけるベーダ。
