ニューオーリンズの地方検事であるジム・ギャリソンは、昼食中に大統領暗殺の第一報を受けた。しかし、直後に逮捕されるリー・ハーヴェイ・オズワルドという人物に、彼は大多数のアメリカ人とは別のショックを受ける。ニューオーリンズの法曹関係者の間ではオズワルドという男は有名人であったからである。 オズワルドは不思議な過去を持ち、奇行を繰り返し、キューバ人の団体とトラブルを起こしていた人物だった。彼はすぐにこの人物の調査を始めるも、大統領暗殺事件の二日後にさらに事件が起こった。マスコミや大勢の警官がいるさなか、オズワルドが警察署の中でジャック・ルビーという男に射殺されたのだ。

１９６２年、カリフォルニア北部の小さな田舎町を舞台に、ハイスクールを卒業し東部の大学へ出発しようとする若者たちの、最後の一夜を描いた愛すべき名編。スティーヴ（今や一線級監督のロン・ハワード）とカート（「ＪＡＷＳ／ジョーズ」以前のリチャード・ドレイファス）は故郷での最後の夜を楽しく過ごそうと、テリー（「アンタッチャブル」のチャールズ・Ｍ・スミス）とビッグ・ジョン（ポール・ル・マット）を誘い町に繰り出す。暴走族の仲間に入らされたり、酒を買おうと四苦八苦したり、マセた女の子にせまられたりという数々のエピソードが、当時のヒット・ナンバーに乗せて軽やかに描かれるが、やがてそれぞれの決意を秘めた朝がやって来る……。今や定番と化した感のある、懐メロ青春群像モノの原点であり最高峰、後の青春映画に与えた影響は大きい。

「欲望の翼」「ブエノスアイレス」のウォン・カーウァイ監督がトニー・レオンとマギー・チャンを主演に迎え、それぞれ家庭を持つ男女の不倫の愛を描いた恋愛ドラマ。1962年、香港。新聞編集者の男性チャウと商社で秘書として働く女性チャンは、同じ日に同じアパートに引っ越してきて隣人になる。やがて2人は互いのパートナーが不倫関係にあることに気づき、時間を共有するように。戸惑いながらも、強く惹かれ合っていくチャウとチャンだったが……。設定の一部や世界観は「欲望の翼」から引き継がれており、さらに2004年製作の「2046」へとつながっていく。第53回カンヌ国際映画祭で最優秀男優賞とフランス映画高等技術委員会賞を受賞。日本では2001年に劇場公開。18年2月、カーウァイ監督の｢欲望の翼｣デジタルリマスター版の公開にあわせて、Bunkamuraル・シネマで特別上映。2022年には4Kレストア版が「WKW4K ウォン・カーウァイ4K」（22年8月19日～シネマート新宿、グランドシネマサンシャイン、シネマシティほか）で上映。
