東アジアに位置し、日本からも近い台湾。その土地を上空から眺めると、フォルモサ(麗しの島の意)と呼ばれるのも納得の美しい山や海や田園の風景が広がる。だが一方で近代化の波による影響で異変が起きているのも確かで、各地で環境破壊が起こっていた。

This heart-warming romantic comedy takes place at Nanyang Street, the most famous "cram school" street in Taipei City. A young man works at a copy shop where his life is a boring routine of copying test papers for students. One day he finds a drawing of a sheep mixed in on the test papers, which leads him to an unexpected journey.

　　連合運動会が開かれていた霧社公学校を襲撃したセデックの決起部隊の手によって、戦う術を持たない多くの日本人は女子供の区別なく命を奪われた。日本軍は直ちに鎮圧を開始。山岳地帯の地の利を活かして戦うセデックの前に苦戦を強いられるが、圧倒的な武力を誇る日本軍と警察を前に、セデックの戦士たちは一人また一人と命を落としていく。男たちが絶望的な戦いに挑むなか、セデックの女たちもまた選択を迫られ、それぞれが信じる道を選ぶことに。決着のときは近づいていた…。

　　台湾中部の山岳地帯に住む誇り高き狩猟民族・セデック族。その一集落を統べる頭目の息子モーナ・ルダオは村の内外に勇名をとどろかせていた。1895年、日清戦争で清が敗れると、彼らの暮らす山奥にも日本の統治が広がり、平穏な生活は奪われていく。それから35年、頭目となったモーナは依然として日々を耐え抜いていた。そんな中、日本人警察官とセデック族の一人が衝突したことをきっかけに、長らく押さえ込まれてきた住民たちが立ち上がり…。
