Kenji Mizoguchi: The Life of a Film Director (Aru eiga-kantoku no shogai) is a 1975 Japanese documentary film on the life and works of director Kenji Mizoguchi, directed by Kaneto Shindo (Onibaba). It runs 150 minutes and can be found on the second disc of the Region 1 Criterion Collection release of Ugetsu (1953).

Upon hearing this, Shogoro Chiba's boss tried to pay for the medical treatment of Kenbo, but Senzo ordered his child Gentaro to claim damages to the car and ruined Shogoro's gambling house.

昭和初期。関東一円の親分衆が結束して作った“関東連合会”の世話役の座の後任をねらう阪東組は、前世話役宮前の二代目大介が、正統な後任世話役と認められているところから、大介をいかさま賭博で陥し入れようとしていた。が、大介は、阪東の雇った老いかさま師根岸が、恋人槙江の店に来たことから、事情をすべて知っていた。が、大介は、渡世の義理といかさま承知で花会に向った。その頃、何も知らぬ芳松は、大介の危機と組に知らせた。大介に好意をもつ蒔田組の辰次がそれを聞き、賭場にかけつけ、いかさまを暴いたことから、花会は斬り合いになり、辰次をかばって、阪東の弟英次を刺した大介は、刑務所送りとなった。悔む辰治。が、その辰治の目に、根岸の般若の刺青が写った。それこそ、二十年間捜し求めた父である人の証拠だったのだ。が敵である根岸には、何も言えなかった。一方、大介のいない宮前組では、宮前は、阪東組に殺され、その後も嫌がらせが続いた。まもなく大介は出所。ちょうどその頃根岸は仲間をかばい、阪東の手にかかっていた。父の仇と阪東に斬りこむ辰次。後を追う大介。二人の怒りの刃は、遂に阪東の命を絶ったのだった。

Remake of Kurosawa's films Sanshiro Sugata and Sanshiro Sugata part 2. A young man, Sanshiro Sugata, troubled by personal problems, takes up judo. Sugata uses his newly learned prowess to gain a measure of respect from others; however, Shogoro insists that the sport has a spiritual side, a lesson Sugata has yet to learn. Teruko decides to borrow money from a greedy bar owner who lends her money on certain conditions and photographs her without her consent. A love traingle forms between Koroku, Ranko, and Teruko. Things complicate when Koroku marries Teruko and Tsugawa threatens them for the money causing many twists and turns.
