ジョシュはヒッチハイクを繰り返しながら、離れて暮らす姉クリスタルを訪ねる。突然の来訪に驚きながらも、快くもてなすクリスタルと娘のパール。しかし夫のハービーだけは、薄汚れた格好で訪ねてきたジョシュに顔をしかめてしまう。弟が何か問題を抱えているのではないかと心配するクリスタルは、再三ジョシュを問いただすものの、その話題に触れるとはぐらかす弟に困惑していた。一方、起業したもののうまく経営を回せていない状況や、自らのテリトリーに現れた“乱入者=ジョシュ”を受け入れることができないハービーは、定期的に参加しているコミュニティーミーティングで、家族には言えない心情を吐露することで平静を保とうとしていた。
