Somy was born on March 25, 1976 in Karachi, Pakistan, to an Iraqi mother and a Pakistani father. She has a younger brother, Mohammed. She studied in Convent of Jesus & Mary High School in Karachi up until the age of 7, then re-located to Florida, USA, along with her mom and brother. She re-located to Bombay and was involved in several modeling assignments as well as appearances in 9 movies. Her successful career in Bollywood spanned from 1992 to 1999. She was leading actor Salman Khan's girlfriend until she ended the relationship. Somy Ali pursued education seriously - she has obtained a degree on film making, psychology and journalism from schools like Nova Southeastern University, The New York Film Academy, Connecticut School of and the University of Miami. She has produced documentaries on issues such as 'Abortion', 'Teenage Suicide', 'Domestic Violence' and 'Lives of Muslim Women'.

Asha
An escaped convict Ashok, (Jeetendra) seeks solace in the flat of a rich woman named Asha (Somy Ali) who has just killed her husband, Keshup (Om Puri). Since both of them know each other's terrifying secrets, they decide to help one another. Ashok helps Asha get rid of the body and then asks her why she killed her husband. Asha tells the tale of her being forced to marry Keshup and of being abused, raped, and molested after marriage. Her parents ignore her cries for help so she turns to her previous lover (Avinash Wadhsvan) for help. Keshup in turn became suspicious of Asha's loyalty to him so he would spy on her. His plans are altered, though, when work takes him to Madras. After Keshup leaves, Asha calls Avinash to her house and tells him her story of the rotten marriage. It is then that Keshup realizes that he forgot something and heads back to their flat. He catches Avinash and Asha together and flies into a rage. He tries to kill Asha and Avinash escapes to inform the police.
Mafia
Gowda is a goonda whose octopus like tentacles have a hold on illegal numbers game, brewing and distribution of illicit liquor, smuggling of firearms and other contraband. To aid and abet him, he has the cooperation of a senior police officer, a minister and the entire official machinery under their control. Three brothers, Ajit (a military man - Fawzi), Bhagat - a policeman and Jai, who is unemployed are on a collision course with Gowda and his goons. Within the police, Pawar, the honest Commissioner and Bapat, his deputy are on a collision course. The Minister is orchestrating both the administrative and the Mafia bosses, and their underlings. While this is a formula film of the mid 1990's an ageing Dharmendra still puts in a credible performance.
