母親が亡くなったショックで口がきけなくなった7歳の娘モリーのため、彼女の父親マニーはメイドを探し、陽気なアフリカ系女性コリーナを雇うことに。モリーは次第にコリーナに魅了されていき、口をきけるようになる。一方、マニーはCM用の曲を作る仕事がスランプに陥るが、音楽に詳しいコリーナからアドバイスを受けて調子を取り戻していく。やがてモリーはコリーナがパパのマニーと再婚することを望むようになっていくが……。
