MITに入学を許可されたが学費の工面に苦心する秀才デヴィッド。屋根裏で途方に暮れていた彼は、幼いころの誕生会を録画したビデオを発見する。なんとその映像には、一瞬だが現在の彼の姿が映り込んでいた。仲間たちと真相を探る中で、彼は亡父の作業場からタイムマシンの核となる部品を発見する。なんとかマシンを完成させた彼らは過去へと戻り、ロトくじを当てたり試験をやり直したりと好き放題に過去を改変しはじめる。
