アメリカのとある郊外の街。自宅のガレージでオフタイムを利用して研究開発に励むエンジニアのアーロンとその友人エイブ。ある時エイブが超伝導を利用した画期的なアイデアを思いつき、その装置の開発に乗り出した2人は、思いがけず小さな箱の中に時空の歪みを生じるワームホールを作りだしてしまう。そこで、箱を人が入れるほどの大きさにしてタイムトラベルをすることにした2人。そして過去に戻って株で大もうけするのだが、タイムトラベルのタブーである分身との遭遇が、2人の運命を大きく変えてゆく。
