大学受験に失敗した勇気は、たまたま目にしたパンフレットに写っていた美女・直紀に憧れ、三重の山奥で営まれていて直紀もいるという林業に従事すべく現地の村に引っ越す。そこで飯田家の世話になるが、東京で暮らしてきた勇気にとってはすべてがカルチャーショックだった。それでも勇気は直紀の気を引こうと一人前の林業マンになろうと目指す。しかしそんな村には大人になるための“通過儀礼”というべき、ある儀式があって……。
