A short documentary visiting some of Rashômon’s key locations, featuring interviews with former staff from the Daiei-Kyoto Studios.

In this documentary, script supervisor Teruyo Nogami, who first worked with Akira Kurosawa on RASHOMON, catches up with many members of the crew, including cowriter Shinobu Hashimoto and assistant director Tokuzo Tanaka. They talk about the screenplay’s evolution, difficulties during the shooting of the film, and Kurosawa’s working methods.

Now, Zatoichi must step in to save the day.

The Shinobi-no-Mono series was so successful that Daiei Studios dipped into the well one more time, making the best 60′s B&W ninja movie ever seen in the otherwise color-dominated year of 1970. Issei Mori directs Hiroki Matsukata as the reluctant leader of a small band of spies charged with kidnapping a noblewoman from a heavily ninja-proofed castle. The finality of the air slowly began to fill like smoke, and in all that had become dark the loyalty of the Ninja who dared to go shone like light as they entered a world shrouded in mystery. Things do not go as planned in what is possibly the darkest and most fatalistic of the already noir-ish 60′s fare. Both the decade and it’s distinctive style of shinobi cinema went out on a high note with Mission Iron Castle.

In the 19th century Edo period, sisters Oshizu and Otaka have sacrificed their personal happiness to work and care for their ailing father. Otaka falls in love, but can’t accept a marriage proposal since her older sister needs to marry first. When Oshizu learns of this decision, she takes matters in her own hands.

The Son of the Black Mass returns in this ninth installment in Daiei's longstanding Nemuri Kyoshiro series. This time Raizo Ichikawa as Nemuri is called to see that a gold statuette of the Virgin Mary gets safe passage to Kyoto from the prying hands of a sect of murderous Christian ronin that call themselves the Black Finger Group.

大魔神シリーズ第三弾。非道な領主のもとで強制労働をから逃げ出した村人たちを救うため、四人の子供たちが禁足地の山中へ向かう。領主側は追っ手を放ち、子供の一人が命を落としてしまう。そしてついに、山の武神像が動き出す。 　吹雪の特撮が印象的で、大魔神がその宝剣を初めて抜いたことでも話題になった。今回は子供の涙によって魔神が動くというのが新味だが、虐げられた良民の祈りが魔神に通じ怒りが爆発という基本パターンから脱却しきれず、新しいインパクトを与えるには及ばなかった。本作でシリーズは終了し、大映の特撮時代劇は妖怪シリーズへと移る。『マグマ大使』のガム役で知られる二宮秀樹が鶴吉を好演。

盲目の渡世人・市は、これまで自分が斬った人々の冥福を祈るべく、札所めぐりのため四国に渡る。だがそこでも栄五郎という男性を斬ってしまい、後悔の念に悩む。直後、栄五郎の妹、お吉に斬りつけられながら彼女に介抱された市は、栄五郎が悪い地主に命じられて自分を襲ったことを知る。お吉の誤解を解こうと決意した市は、彼女の土地を狙う地主一味を単身、一網打尽にしようとする。

三上於菟吉の同名時代小説を、伊藤大輔と衣笠貞之助が脚色、和田夏十がシナリオ化し、市川崑がメガホンをとった。1935年版に主演した長谷川一夫が、再び中村雪之丞と闇太郎の二役を演じた。その他、山本富士子や若尾文子、市川雷蔵、勝新太郎など豪華な出演者が顔をそろえた。長谷川一夫300本記念作品。 　江戸で興行を張る上方歌舞伎の女形役者・中村雪之丞は、父を冤罪で陥れ自死に至らしめた土部三斎と広海屋の姿を認めた。三斎の娘の浪路は雪之丞に恋をし、雪之丞は彼女を利用して父の仇を討とうとする。江戸の飢饉に乗じて米を買い占めていた川口屋は、雪之丞にそそのかされた広海屋に邪魔され破産、広海屋に放火した。怒った広海屋は川口屋を絞め殺すが、誘拐しようとした浪路に刺されてしまう。

勝新太郎が盲目の居合抜きの達人・座頭市を演じ、彼の代表作となった人気シリーズの第1作。博打のツボ振りと居合抜きの達人である盲目の男・座頭市は、下総飯岡の貸元・助五郎の食客となる。市は肺を患う浪人・平手造酒と知り合い友情の念を抱くが、平手は助五郎と対立する笹川一家の食客だった。やがて市と平手は、運命的な対決へと導かれていく。

狸の国。カチカチ山でやけどを負った父の泥右衛門を手当てするため、お黒は人間の栗助から薬を買っていた。お黒も栗助もお互いのことを気に入っているが、それを口にはしない。狸御殿では、人間との結婚を望むきぬた姫が、狸吉郎との見合いを嫌って家出してしまい大騒ぎ。ひょんなことから狸御殿に紛れ込んだお黒は、顔がきぬた姫と瓜二つなことから、姫の身代わりとして狸吉郎と見合いをすることになってしまう。お見合いは成功、二人の仲はどんどん近づいていくが、そこへ人間に相手をされず意気消沈のきぬた姫が帰ってきた。

When Osan is falsely accused of having an affair with the best worker, Mohei, the pair flee the city and declare their love for each other. Ishun orders his men to find them, and separate them to avoid public humiliation.

The Great White Tiger Platoon was part of the Aizu clan's last ditch efforts to stop the advance of Imperial troops after the fall of the Tokugawa Shogunate. Meant to be a reserve unit as it was made of the young, 16-17 year old sons of Aizu samurai. Their story is one of the great tragedies of the Boshin War (1868-1869) as they were called into action. Getting cut off from the main body of their platoon, a group of 20 from the 2nd squad retreated to Iimori Hill, where they looked down upon fires surrounding Aizu Castle and thinking that the castle has fallen and all is lost, they choose to die as samurai by committing seppuku. A superb rendition of this true story that shows the true honor of the samurai.

森鴎外の同名小説を、八尋不二と依田義賢が共同で脚色し、溝口健二がメガホンをとった文芸作品。特に美術と撮影はレベルが高く、ヴェネチア国際映画祭で銀獅子賞を受賞した。美しいラストシーンは、ゴダールが「気狂いピエロ」において引用したことでも知られる。 　平安時代末期、農民を救うため将軍にたてついた平正氏が左遷された。妻の玉木、娘の安寿と息子の厨子王は越後を旅している途中、人買いにだまされ離ればなれになってしまう。玉木は佐渡に、安寿と厨子王は丹後の山椒大夫に奴隷として売られた。きょうだいはそれから十年もの間、奴隷としての生活を続けるが、ついに意を決して逃げ出すことにする。しかし追っ手に迫られ、安寿は厨子王を逃すため池に身を投げるのだった。

祇園ではちょっと名の知れた芸妓・美代春の許に、母を亡くしたばかりの少女・栄子が舞妓志願にやってきた。栄子の熱意に負けた美代春は、彼女を引き受けることに。やがて、1年間の舞妓修行を経て、初めて店に出た栄子。ほどなく大会社の御曹司・楠田に見初められる。一方、美代春も楠田の取引先である神崎から言い寄られるのだったが…。

An intellectual couple in a staid and tedious marriage are surprised when the wife’s niece, who has run away from home, turns up unexpectedly to stay with them. Their mundane lives are sent into disarray by the emotional and energetic Ako.

Shinnosuke is introduced to Shizu as a prospective marriage partner, but he falls in love with her widowed sister Oyu. Convention forbids Oyu to marry because she has to raise her son as the head of her husband's family. Oyu convinces Shinnosuke and Shizu to marry so that she can remain close to Shinnosuke.
