Kolya is 8 years old. He lives in a troubled family: exhausted by his daily routine, his mother abuses alcohol and is prone to nervous breakdowns; stepfather allows himself domestic violence. In addition to Kolya’s family, he has a friend, Misha, and their common hiding place – a field where you can hang out and lie in the fragrant grass, dream of another life and make wishes while planes land nearby. Kolya’s main dream is that his mother would stop drinking.
Denis Komarov is a policeman. He is an expert in technical equipment, a top specialist. His wife Natasha is a school coach. The ordinary family with a modest income leads a settled happy life until they get terrible news. Their only lovely child, the 8 year old Olya, is severely ill. Her last chance is a very expensive operation on kidney transplantation. The despaired parents are going to sell their apartments, but suddenly they get an alternative solution.
Many myths, stories and traditions are associated with the lime tree, going back to the Middle Ages, Celtic times and as far back as Ancient Greece. In Russia, the story goes, that on discovering his lover's infidelity, landowner Pavel Kazantsev was so heartbroken that he could not forgive Anastasia's disloyalty and buried her alive. He planted a lime tree to mark the spot where she lay, and years later villagers still go to the tree to ask Anastasia for help, particularly in affairs of the heart. Marina is the wife of a successful businessman also coincidentally called Pavel Kazantsev. One day, after a family quarrel, Pavel takes Marina to their country house where she discovers that Oleg has a lover - Anastasia. Marina soon learns about the legend of Anastasia's tree from the local villagers. The coincidence with names is disturbing, but a worse discovery is still to come.
