ピアノ講師を辞め、目標も定まらないまま日々を漫然と過ごす秋子（井上真央）。ある日、姉・春子（尾野真千子）から、ひきこもりの弟とともに緊急招集をかけられる。死が迫った父の遺産を「愛人」から守るために力を合わせて戦おうというのだ。姉の強引さに巻き込まれ、気乗りがしないまま、あれこれと動き回る秋子は、次第に姉や弟の気づいていなかった一面を知ることになる。やがて、真夜中に実家に忍び込んで金庫を盗み出すことになり… ユーモアと涙、温かさに包まれた人間讃歌。

性格は正反対だがどこかウマの合う高校2年生の内海想と瀬戸小吉は、放課後にいつも河原で話をしながら暇つぶしをしている。くだらない言葉遊びや、思いを寄せる女子へのメールの内容、時にはシリアスなことも語り合う。そんな二人を見守る同級生の樫村一期に瀬戸は憧れているが、樫村は内海に好意を抱いている。
