戦前、日本統治下の台湾で生まれ育った日本人、「湾生」。この映画は、6人の湾生が70年前“故郷”に存在していたという証を探すことから始まる。彼らは当時をいきいきと語る一方で、自らを“永遠の異邦人”と呼び、複雑な思いをにじませる。旅を通して、欠けていたアイデンティティが少しずつ埋められていく湾生たちの心の動きを、映画を観ている私たちも追体験することとなる。大阪アジアン映画祭2016観客賞受賞。

A simple organic fruit farmer Rong Guang (Wu Kang-Ren) is raising his son Feng (Chen Yu-Cheng) alone in a small rural community, although with poor harvests and little money, their lifestyle is meagre. Elsewhere Feng’s mother Yi Ying (Alice Tzeng), now a successful businesswoman is being pressured by her husband Chung Hao (Tang Guo-Zhong) to have children something she strongly resists. Ying reveals that she already has a son, feng, and that he may be Chung Hao’s after all, so they begin proceedings to take feng back for themselves which Rong Guang refuses to let happen. Chung Hao demands a DNA test but before this can happen, Rong Guang collapses and is taken to hospital, forcing him to make some drastic decisions for Feng’s welfare.

In hope to find his lover, a Mainland Chinese A-Fei, comes to Taiwan. He is mistaken by others to be a missing taxi driver. Seeing all those roads named after Chinese provinces, A-Fei believes he can surely do this. At the same time, a gangster movie is about to shoot⋯

Mo Tz-yi is a high-school youth who likes to hypnotize himself by listening to tapes, intending to explore the world beyond. Chen Wen-yi, a student who failed in class before, cares about nobody and nobody cares about him. Mo begins to shift his attention to Chen. Rumours abound about Chen - he had once committed suicide. As two chords with the same frequency achieve resonance when played together, Mo and Chen begin an interesting journey together.
