In this unique event, audiences around the world will have the chance to enjoy Katie Melua and her band perform the entirety of Album No 8, as well as classics from her extensive catalogue, from one of London’s most iconic venues. Joining Katie on stage will be Tim Harries on bass, Mark Edwards on keys, Zurab Melua on guitars, Joe Yoshida on drums and Nina Harries on double bass and backing vocals.

Accomplished singer-songwriter Katie Melua makes her second appearance at the AVO SESSION festival. She presents her new, mysterious and profound album «Secret Symphony». Like the rain of gold and platinum with her earlier albums, this album has been at the top of the charts for many weeks. It shows that even superstars have hard times, like Katie Melua with her burnout. Her art was making this crisis into a source of creativity by turning it into new songs. This great music dynamic speaks for the quality of her new works. She mixes pop, jazz and folk intuitively and adeptly, her songs are heartfelt, natural and unpretentious. Pop and poetry don’t get any closer than this – as you will see at this evening at AVO SESSION Basel.

Recorded at the Jazz Open Stuttgart in 2009 to a sold-out audience of nine thousand people, this movie features a unique performance by Katie, her band and the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra. Conducted by Mike Batt, the set includes highlights from Katie’s first three chart topping albums ‘Call Off The Search’, ‘Piece By Piece’ and ‘Pictures’ including ‘The Closest Thing To Crazy’, ‘Nine Million Bicycles’ and ‘If You Were A Sailboat’. Katie remembers the concert as being a very special night explaining “This was the first full concert I have performed with an orchestra and I consider it one of my favourite musical experiences. I am used to performing with the band but singing and playing with an orchestra and all the depth and richness that brings was amazing.”

Filmed at the Historic Wintershall Estate in Surrey, England, this concert brings togetzer a group of Rock Legends under the musical direction of Procol Harum's Gary Brooker to perform many of their best loved Tracks. An amazing line-up of star soloists including Eric Clapton, Katie Melua, Roger Taylor, Ringo Starr, Paul Carrack, Andy Fairweather Low, Gary Brooker, Chris Barber, and The Drifters.

In 2007, Wright directed a fake trailer insert for Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's Grindhouse, called "Don't", it was a plotless trailer that mocked horror clichés.

Katie Melua's long awaited second album, Piece By Piece, is released nearly two years after the debut of her multi-platinum selling album, Call Off The Search.
